How To Organize Your Home Office Effectively

The home office is often a lofty title for what is actually a corner of the bedroom or living room, with office supplies haphazardly scattered about and toys littering the desk surface. Even if you have a separate room dedicated to office use, it can be a struggle to keep things neat and tidy. Organizing the home office does not have to be a weeklong ordeal involving maxing out your credit cards, however. Just taking 15-20 minutes a day can help get your office organized for maximum efficiency.
First, designate days of the week into specific office organizing tasks. If you know that you always sort your paperwork on Tuesday, you won’t be overwhelmed and distracted by the overflow on Monday. Secondly, always take just five minutes a day to clear off your desk or other work surfaces. Keeping your workspace tidy will again reduce distractions. Label all your drawers and shelves clearly, so that you know their contents without having to hunt through each one. Lastly, keep a laundry basket or a box handy to store items that have wandered in from other parts of the house. Once a week, return these items to their rightful owners. If these sound like simple suggestions, they are. It only takes a few minutes of focused tasks per day to keep your office a neat and efficient space you’ll enjoy working from.
